Effanel Music has long been the "go to" company for remote recordings in unique locations. Effanel has provided portable (on-site) recording systems for VH1 (Dave Matthews / Trey Anastasio) in Dakar, Senegal, Shakira in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the WB music show, Latin American Grammy's, Pepsi Smash throughout the United States and recently Madonna in Paris, France and Lisbon, Portugal.
In deciding on the equipment to record these important live preformances, it is imperative that the equipment being used is top-notch and up to the demands of being on the road. During the design of the recent system for Madonna in Europe, Effanel's Joel Singer tapped digital technology experts, PreSonus for their DigiMax 96k microphone preamplifiers.
"While I was searching for new technology a friend of mine suggested I speak to PreSonus about their Digimax 96k" stated Joel Singer. "I had used the Digimax 96k earlier in the year for a quick small project and was very happy with it's performance. Since the unit has both AES and TosLink (optical lightpipe) outputs it made it the perfect interface to our ProTools HD Accel / DA98HR system. It provides a complete digital recording solution for location recording. The Digimax 96k preamplifiers performed flawlessly and allowed for maximum control of all inputs. The digital outputs allowed for connectivity to both Pro Tools and Tascam systems with no hiccups. Also, I really like the sound of the DigiMax 96k - very sweet sounding preamps with more than enough headroom needed for live recording."
Finally, Stuart Price (Musical Director for Madonna), recently listened to therecordings as was very pleased. The DigiMax's did a great job."
