Modular Display Inc in Magayon Festival 2012

Monday, April 30th, 2012

13 hours drive from Manila to Legaspi Albay City to witness the Magayon Festival, especially the “Mutya ng Magayon 2012”. It was exhausting but we were very excited since we know that The Mutya show is the main event of the month. I have seen the preparation for this event and it was no joke. They needed to rehearse everything from the contestants blocking, the performers, the light and sound the video etc. It was like preparing for the The Miss Universe show and the pressure was all there. The Mutya show was held at the Albay Astrodome which accomodates nearly 5,000 seats and throw in another thousand for those who are standing, another thousand were not able to watch the show since it was already above the capacity.

We at Modular Display Pro: Light and Sound and Audio Evolution (an Albay local supplier) prepared for this event. For the event, we brought in our old and reliable 8 units ODY-PRO line array, 4 units ODY PRO L8 dual 18 subs, a dozen QHA power amps, ODY PRO monitor, Bardl BR 103 wireless mics, a PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 digital mixer, a BDS dual DVD play back system, 8 x 13 LED wall, 32 units PAR 64, 24 units Matrix LED wash, 10 units Weinas Beam 200 and a Weinas RGB laser light.

The sound was loud, clear and an earth shaker and the audience was WOWed by the lightings. The lights definitely complemented the beauty contestants. Light and sound definitely gave justice to “Mutya ng Magayon 2012”. We hope to return next year for another spectacular show.

A night of raw and unadulterated Punk Energy Powered with Kustom Amplifier

Monday, April 30th, 2012

That and more to describe the evening dubbed as “It’s not too late” an event held at Amos Café last April 21, 2012 hosted by the Band Republika de Lata. This is the launch of their latest music video of the same title.  The event was sponsored by Nadela Customs, Jam88.3, Amos Café, and Kustom Amplifiers Philippines.

The show was powered by Kustom Amplifiers using a DE300 4×10 Bass Amp, HV100T, and a Defender V50 showcasing its power and gritty character perfect for raw and aggressive guitar sounds. Opening the show is our very own Product Specialist Bone Pagligaran to warm up the amps plugging directly to the Defender V50 rocking away with his signature flamboyant bluesy guitars riffs that supports his vocals as he goes on to through his set singing his original tunes from his solo album entitled Spirit of Radio. Next to take the stage was a band called “Triplehorns” now the punk energy begins with this three piece band featuring a female drummer that looks like your typical petit early 20’s girl but never lacks in power. You can tell by their performance that they were enjoying the evening and being blown away by the sound emanating from the Kustom Amps. Next is a band called “Along The Way” also a three piece setup that resembles a Hardcore Punk vibe.  Just like the Triplehorns they also could not help but acknowledge power of Kustom Ampifiers.

Other bands include “Tustado”, another  punk outfit “Makuri Makuro” which is a Ska-Punk-Reggae featuring familiar faces from other notable Reggae and Ska Bands. But rounding up the evening is the main event the band that call themselves the “Republika De Lata” mostly veteran musician form the Punk and Alternative scene two of the members were part of a famous 90’s band called “Agaw Agimat” Renmin and Teta teamed with their abrasive guitarist Kahil and Wendy the vocalist whose surname resemble local punk scene royalty. These guys are the real deal when it comes to old school punk it is their generation it is their lifestyle they conform to nothing but the idea that Kustom Amplifiers really Rocks on a very punk way. I managed to capture some video that would better describe this punk experience powered by Kustom Amps. All I could say is OI!

The Amazing Kustom HV30 Combo Amp

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Here’s a blog from Bone Pagligaran regarding his experience with Kustom HV30.

Bang! It was February 15 and I got blown away by the performance of the Kustom HV30 combo amp that I decided to take with me to a gig. The place was called Amos Café located along Kamias Road Quezon City I was invited by Renmin Nadela of Republika Delata / Agaw Agimat for Guerilla Music Productions. An Indie production outfit that I am honored to be a regular feature. I often bring along a Defender V50 an all tube amp which my Boss sir Alvin Q offered to me as a work perk but for this event I had the crazy idea of bringing in a smaller amp and see how it would hold up against the amps that were installed in that joint they were mostly 100 watt combos. I knew that the Kustom amplifier lines are very conservative in publishing power ratings ever since I first tried them but I wanted to see how far they can go. Just by feeling the amps nominal volume levels I kinda know that the Kustom 30 watt rated amps can hold up against 50 watt ratings from other brands so I thought that this would be a perfect time for a case study. In all fairness the HV30 is equipped with an amazing speaker emulated output so in case It fell short of what I expect it to do I can always plug it to the P.A. but as we breezed through the soundcheck (a jam of Richie Kotzen’s “Doin what the devil says to do” Check out the link ) I felt that I don’t need to hook up to the P.A. The HV30 had so much headroom that I was able to cut through. The usual combo amp matching is 60 watts vs 100 watts guitar and bass amp respectively but the experience proved my theory I was using a 30watt combo but I was right there between the drums and bass. “

Modular Display Inc. Powers Up the PAMGS 2011

Monday, November 14th, 2011
Dubbed Philippine Annual Music Gear Show – The Tour, the first show on music gear to do a nationwide tour in the country kicked off Last November 11 and 12 at the Amoranto Theater, Scout Chuatoco, Quezon City. The only musical instrument trade show in the country showcasing hundreds of local and international brands. Hundreds of musicians from all over the country interested in the latest musical instruments and gear were present.
Organized by Epic Tone Music and Events Productions for the fourth year, the music gear show and tour will also be experienced in 10 or more cities like Baguio, Cebu, Davao and Naga City until the end of the year. Musical instruments dealers and distributors from here and abroad will be participating in the event as exhibitors unveiling the latest products and equipment that are used by musicans of all genres such as guitars, effects pedals, bass, keyboard, guitar amplifiers, drum equipment, wind instruments, keyboards and all types of music accessories. Musical instrument workshops and clinics will be held and special discounts on musical instruments will be given away during the event. Raffle prizes will be given away by Natura Vista Bohol, Lava Cable, Pedal Train, CMatmods and Victoria Court Hotel, to name a few.
As for Modular Display, we have alway featured Kustom amps and PreSonus. And as usual, we always get the “Wow” and the 2 thumbs up.
Kustom HV and DE was highlighted in the live performance of Fuseboxx and also the first day open jam. Caren Mangaran was very impressed with the Kustom HV30, she cant believe the sound coming out from such as small box. The combination of KV2 audio and Presonus did a Marvelous job. Richie Gerones of Jesus Miracle Crusade was very impressed with the way it sounded and according to him “Tunog Hi-Fi talaga”. One of the people who was impressed with the StudioLive was Danielle Crisologo of Jen1. Danielle cant believe how faithful Presonus recorded and played back their open jam, it was the exact sound.

The two-day kick-off event was graced by live performances from well known bands Eternal Now, Flood, Fuseboxx, Lager Lout, Sanctus, and Sandata and with special renditions by artists Barbie Almalbis , Karel Honasan, Alden Abaca, Wally Gonzalez and Bobby Taylo each day and was hosted by Caren Mangaran of General Luna.
“People from the provinces through forum, Facebook, emails and text messages asked us to bring the show to them on our second year. With numerous brands and com panies emerging worldwide, primarily in the US, there’s so much to learn about the tools we use to make beautiful music. The challenge was how we get to test all of them. Light bulb! A yearly thing with just us gear heads getting together and having fun with the stuff we have,“ says musician and event founder Juan Lorenzo J. Natividad, president Epic Tone Music and Events Productions, a company that imports musical instrument brands including Lava Cable, Pedal Train, Wilson Effects and Weber Speakers.
And as for 2012, the plans are bigger as we are merging with the Pro Audio  Live and recording industry, DJ, lighting, video and anything that goes along with entertainment. So expect for a bigger and better PAMGS!
